During Translation between two parties, sometimes the Focus is only on the relevant Contents. And maybe sometimes the Person translating the Content does not only translate the Content but also gives hints on how to behave. Can be a good Thing. But can also go pretty wrong if really relevant Content is not translated.
One hint for everyone who is not firm in chinese culture and/or has a very high speaking Level: Do not try to make jokes. People might not get it or even get upset.
Learning chinese is a Long journey. And while in the beginning foreigners do not understand anything, the longer they are here the more they listen about the context and Keywords to understand what others are saying. Even when they do not understand everything the other Person says, this can be very helpful – or also very bad if they just get it wrong. Classical misunderstandings can happen.
